November 2016 Meet Recap

On Saturday, November 12, 2016, the Philadelphia Division once again held its late fall meet at the Brandywine Town Center Community Center in Wilmington, DE. The morning began with greetings from our superintendent, Joe Bergmaier.

The first order of business was the presenting of Achievement Program certificates by AP Coordinator Dave Messer, MMR. This round’s recipients were our two Earls, Paine and Hackett (coincidentally both newsletter editors, although Earl Hackett has just retired from editing MER’s The Local). Earl Paine earned his certificates in Master Builder: Scenery; and Model Railroad Engineer: Electrical, while Earl Hackett earned his Association Volunteer. … More...

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, the Philadelphia Division held its early fall meet at a new venue, the Perkasie Fire Company #1 in Perkasie, PA. It was originally planned to be held at the Quakertown Train Station, but a scheduling snafu forced us to change the venue at the last minute.

November Meet Recap

For the last dozen years or so, or at least since I’ve been a member of the NMRA, the Philadelphia Division has been meeting at the wonderful Community Center located along Naamans Road, just south of the vast Brandywine Town Center shopping center in Wilmington, DE. Once again the large meeting space was the setting for our November 10th meet in concert with National Model Railroading Month. We were joined by our friends from the Jersey Division in a joint meet that swelled attendance to 67 people!

For our recent September 9, 2018 meet we returned to the Perkasie Fire House at 100 N. 5th Street in Perkasie, PA. A good crowd of 43 members and visitors that are all interested in model railroading joined in a morning of fellowship, clinics, model viewing, and refreshments.

On Saturday June 9, 2018 the Philadelphia Division met at another new location, the Philadelphia First Church of the Brethren located on West Cheltenham Ave, in Wyndmoor, PA.  The morning session began with our Annual Business Meeting where various reports were presented and the votes counted for our Board of Directors election. This year Assistant Superintendent Rob Hinkle chaired the meeting for an ailing Superintendent Charles Butsch.
